Earrings, Charms & Links
(to make earrings, charms, linked jewelry, etc)
- String selected beads on the headpin or eye pin. A
headpin (wire with a small stopper at the end) will finish with a loop only
at the top. An eyepin (wire with a loop at one end) will start with a loop
and you will add the 2nd loop (like above) You can then hang more hoops
or charms from the bottom!
- Keep about 8mm (1/3") of wire. Cut off any extra.**
- Use round nose pliers to grasp the wire just above the bead, at the arrow,
and bend sharply away from you.
- Now use small round nose pliers to grasp the tip of the wire, and bend it
smoothly around the pliers down close to the beads. (**You can also skip step
2, bend the loop first using steps 3 & 4, and then cut the wire after
the loop is formed)
You can also use lengths of wire which can be much
more cost effective. Make a loop on each side of the bead to create the
above picture. Make a loop on the top and a tiny bend on the bottom to form
your own earrings, etc. Some people place the roundnose pliers close to the
bead and bend the wire around the pliers with their fingers. After
you learn the basic idea, you will adapt a technique that works best for
you!
